Public bug reported: I installed the ubuntu 9.10 upgrade over the ubuntu 9.04 system from the update manager. Previously I had sound for a day or two, until I broke the system and reinstalled 9.04. Then no sound. I have installed just about every alsa package I can find in synaptic package manager. NO SOUND! My system is a COMPAQ DESKPRO EN PII 450 196 mb Ram Maxtor 6.1gb HD & Seagate 10.4 HD The SOUND CARD is ONBOARD "ESS 1869"
