I've been debugging this some more. This is what I found: Dropped samples: $ gst-launch-0.10 alsasrc ! alsasink <snip> gstbaseaudiosrc.c(815): gst_base_audio_src_create (): /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstAlsaSrc:alsasrc0: Dropped 14553 samples. This is most likely because downstream can't keep up and is consuming samples too slowly. WARNING: from element /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstAlsaSrc:alsasrc0: Can't record audio fast enough
No dropped samples: $ gst-launch-0.10 alsasrc device=hw:0,0 ! alsasink Additional info: $ arecord -l **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: Live [SB Live! 5.1], device 0: emu10k1 [ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Live [SB Live! 5.1], device 1: emu10k1 mic [Mic Capture] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Live [SB Live! 5.1], device 2: emu10k1 efx [Multichannel Capture/PT Playback] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: SAA7134 [SAA7134], device 0: SAA7134 PCM [SAA7134 PCM] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 When I get more time I'll enable gstreamer debug to investigate this further. -- "gst-launch alsasrc ! fakesink" causes CPU hog and dropped samples https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483743 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
