Yes, I understand that. What seems to be going on with your computer is
you are getting hit by a hard crash during boot, as it seems as soon as
usplash gets called -- and, most probably, the interrupt handler died
(and, as a result, not even sysrq will work).

This is a hard one to crack. We do not have much data to go on, so
pretty much all we can do is trying different options, on the hope of
nailing the issue to one point.

usplash deals with the video; given that you are not using framebuffer,
trying with a lower usplash resolution was worth a try.

It may be related to libx86; I do not know, and I do not know much on
what it does, but it is is quite possible it has something to do with
the video modes.
