looks like this bug went dry?
I have the same behaviour in Ubuntu Karmic. I have attached the cheese

According to the manufacturer the camera should support up to 800x600 pixels.
For cheese it looks like it simply probes for valid resolutions rather than
retrieving a list from the driver.
