Public bug reported:

I repaired an hfsplus filesystem using fsck.hfsplus. I mounted the
filesystem using a loop device (It is on an image of a failed drive
which I rescued). Most of the files are recovered. However, accessing
some files causes the process to hang. Furthermore, any time I try to
browse or otherwise access the mount point, that process hangs as well.
It is not possible kill the hung processes nor is it possible to unmount
the hfsplus filesystem or detatch the loop device.

Another loop device can be attached to the same image file and the
filsystem can be mounted again using another mount point. And the
problem happens again when the same files are tried.

I have reproduced this bug with two different hfsplus filesystem (both
repaired after data recovery and both allowed almost all of the original
files to be copied, with the exception of the few files which reveal
this problem). As well, this bug is also reproducible on Ubuntu 9.10.

If the filesystem is corrupt, reading the file should fail gracefully
and it should not cause the process or loop device to hang.
