@ Daniel T Chen I've gone in the alsamixer, hit tab, gone to "Input So" and changed from Front mic to Internal. Adjusted levels - still nothing. Raising the levels just creates static.
BTW both external sound and mic work (using the plugs on the side of the system - also system speakers). WebCam also works.
