Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I have been using UbuntuOne to hold my mnemosyne flashcard files for
studying. I started one on my machine at work last week, and then
continued working on it over the weekend at home. During the first
fifteen minutes or so of any editing session, every time I'd save a
card, UbuntuOne would indicate that it's syncing the file, while the
icon would pretty much continually indicate that a file was in the
process of updating. I had no reason to anticipate the horror that
awaited my return to the office today.

When I attempted to open the mnemosyne file, it was no longer there.
There was only a copy from last week sitting in the UbuntuOne folder,
with a .u1conflict extension. The web interface also shows no copy of
that file. FAIL!

Since I have only ever had this file open on one machine at a time, and
have never been notified of a failure of synchronization, I have no idea
how I would then end up with no file, and a supposed conflict file from
a week ago. Looking at the fact that there are over six hundred bugs in
queue for this client, I really wish someone would have warned me that
the software was still being tested and wasn't ready for valuable data.
My guess is that the rate at which mnemosyne was saving its file was
faster than the rate at which ubuntuone was synchronizing the file,
which then caused the updates to get out of order and confuse the sync
server, but still, you'd think it would fail in a mode that wouldn't
involve the utter destruction of the data it's supposed to be making
*more* available.
