I had this problem too. I do not understand it, but I believe I have a possible fix. On my system, this loop harassment was caused by unpurged configurations from previous version of Ubuntu or removed packages. Open up synaptic, choose the status listing, and then the resitual configuration for removed packages. I had about 150 of them, and found the shift-click method can select a whole block for removal. After that, the loop errors were solved.
The warnings about missing lsb values were still there, but those really are just warnings that remind developers that they are not up-to-date in writing their scripts. But the loop thing does go away (for me, at least) on one system. pj -- "chkconfig on <service>" fails due to detected loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450517 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
