After testing, this bug actually happens to users having an encrypted /home folder and for those having an unencrypted /home folder.
** Summary changed: - gnome-session isn't started automatically for users using encrypted /home folder + gnome-session doesn't always start if using encrypted swap ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-session - For some reason gnome-session can't be loaded by gdm for users who's - /home folder is encrypted. I have to use the xtern session from gdm to - then start gnome-session manually (the attached screenshot shows the - first messages given by the gnomoe-session command). This this issue - started after Thursday's updates (gdm, xsplash ...). The gnome-session - starts normally when a user (without an encrypted /home folder) logs in. + For some reason gnome-session doesn't always start when using an + encrypted swap. I have to use the xtern session from gdm to then start + gnome-session manually (the attached screenshot shows the first messages + given by the gnomoe-session command). This this issue started after + Thursday's updates (gdm, xsplash ...). I'm getting this bug for users + having an encrypted /home -folder and for those having an unencrypted + /home folder. + + Workaround: wait up to 2-3 minutes before trying to login (I have no + idea what the system does, but maybe it's related to the encrypted + swap). + ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Nov 7 22:51:43 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release Candidate i386 (20091020.3) Package: gnome-session 2.28.0-0ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: gnome-session Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686 -- gnome-session doesn't always start if using encrypted swap https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
