@Pieter -- that is unexpected as the post install scripting is unchanged
in lucid from that used in karmic. Which version of grub are you using?
grub or grub2? dpkg -l | grep grub should tell us. Also can you
confirm that just running update-grub fixed things up for you? Finally
can you confirm the absolute path to update-grub on your installation.
