Public bug reported:

Hello, as described on http://forum.ubuntu.cz/viewtopic.php?pid=53661#p53661 i
have
2.6.15-28-amd64-generic #1 SMP PREEMPT x86_64 GNU/Linux and i have
problems with characters with carons, which are not pre-prepared on
keyboard.
On forum i wrote:
The key before backspace (coordinates 1, 13) is auxiliary key for typing
the characters in Czech (Slowak, Germany etc.) special letters with
caron, which are not explicitly on keyboard mapped. On Ubuntu Dapper
Drake x64 i cannot type this letters. For example Š is +S, Ť is +T, Ě is
+E etc. I must use Caracter Map, what is very tedious.

Between this time and today i found out workaround:
I switch on Caps Lock next only <CL>, then i press <Shift> then caron
(caron is placed before backspace in top line) i leave <Shift> and press
appropriate key. If i keep the <Shift> pressed, then i type small
letters with carron. Instance: Š, Č, Ď, š, č, ď.

Very special is letter ů, again, i am able to type big ů with <CL>Ů, but
not <Shift><caron>U (there is again +U), as (may be) partially visible,
because sometimes the letter is not everywhen whole
visible.

I buy a new keyboard to use the one old for Hindi (i am learning Hindi
language).
But the new keyboard doing the same, i must use Character Map, or use
<CL>, so i proofed, that problem is not in keyboard.

For instance, there is complicated Czech sentence with many carons and
commas under letters: P<CL><Shift><caron>ŘÍLI<Shift><caron>Š
<Shift><caron>ŽLU<Shift><caron>ŤOU<Shift><caron>ČKÝ K(press small ů,
<CL> is still switched on)Ů<Shift><caron>Ň ÚP<Shift><caron>ĚL
<Shift><caron>ĎÁBELSKÉ ÓDY. As visible it is against the rules, spessing
<Shift> with switched on <CL> removes function <CL> and then there would
been comma, not carron, but it works fine.

The same problem is with Hindi, which using small, big letters (using Shift
key) for
typing completelly different characters (Hindi has no big-small
letters), for example ब (ba) and <Shift>Y, but correctly it should been
ब, भ (ba, bha), again i must type <CL><Shift>भ.

This is the same problem and the same error and according my opinion,
this is a bug.

P. S. Please look on System->Preferences->Keyboard->Layout Options too.
There many strange things, nearly nothing works there properly.

Best regards, Petr Hajic alias hariprasad
