** Description changed:

Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated and Lucid daily live

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2050 (2x1.6Ghz)
- Video card: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
+ Chipset (with integrated video card): ATI Radeon Xpress 200M

I can't watch 720p videos because the video gets very choppy and
pixelated when there is a high bitrate section (in
VLC,Mplayer,Totem,Xine). When the video plays smoothly xorg uses 30% of
the CPU. The video gets stuck when VLC uses 100% on one core (xorg cpu
usage drops to 15-16% on the other core),I checked it with top. Looks
like the video isn't running in two theads. Nothing is running in the
  background.
+
+ I've got the same behaviour on my dekstop PC with the open-source driver:
+ Motherboard:ECS A780GM-A
+ Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+
+ Chipset (with integrated video card): AMD 780G (ATI Radeon HD3200)
