I don't think so, I did not change anything in the BIOS.

After I installed the updates for KDE 4.3.4 and rebooted, I landed in
the console so I did:

Start x

and Gnome started up, so I booted the rescue system and edited the xorg.conf 
file by hand with Joe.
I changed the driver too Radeon, and rebooted again.
This time I had to chose the console and KDE started up fine.

In the past I had also put the AGPmode option in this file, but when I tried 
this I landed in a black screen.
In Jaunty the xorg.conf file was empty, and 3D with compiz worked just fine.
