I can reproduce this 100% of the time with Karmic on a Lenovo ThinkPad
x301.

$ uname -a
Linux mopo-laptop 2.6.31-15-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 10 14:53:52 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux

If AC power is connected, suspend/resume works fine.
If AC power is disconnected, suspend/resume works fine.
If the machine is suspended while AC power is connected, and resumed with AC
power disconnected it hangs a few seconds after resume. The moon-LED keeps
blinking. If I am very fast, I can type the first 3-4 characters of my password
before the hang.
