Sadly it is still an issue for me.
I am NOT dual booting - I am only running Ubuntu 9.10.
I tried to run the command line you provided, though the first time I
did so I inadvertently selected the wrong permission level and can now
no longer run the command line specified - when I do I get the
following:

If there's another way I can run the command let me know - I'm keen to
