I had network-manager properly working, I only had to install a PPA
version of network-manager due to bug #432205.
Today i had the partition where is my home folder full (not the /
partition, the /home partition). it was with 0 bytes left, in fact i had
a program running as root which wrote besides that 0 bytes limit (it
wrote 10.1Gb, when I deleted the files i got only 9.4Gb free I guess
root can write in the last 5% reserved by ext3).
well during this event network-manager behaved properly. However after
reboot it was evident that network-manager lost its settings (my fixed
IP settings for one of my network cards and my DSL settings for my
second network card). Only after I entered those settings again it
started working again (and for DSL I in fact had to reboot once more).
So it seems network-manager is vulnerable to loosing its settings when
the home directory of the user gets full.
