Pat, if you explicitly modprobe the sound driver, you can do it like this: # modprobe snd-hda-intel model=basic
Or you can edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the line: options snd-hda-intel model=basic This will cause the correct options to be loaded automatically.
