I can confirm this problem.
I you set the language as English(GB) both spellings are accepted (both
naive and naïve), although naive is automatically converted into naïve.
If you specify English(US), then naïve is marked as a spelling-error.

typing "naive" is automatically rewritten as naïve. furthermore it "naïve" is
recognized as a misspelled word.
