I had this issue on my EeePC 901. I took the following actions and have not *yet* seen the issue reappear:
1. Boot from 9.10 NBR Live CD 2. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M 3. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=1M 4. install 9.10 NBR 5.
