This experience is actually greatly improved in Karmic from what I
remember in 9.04.  I love that an alert pops up after installing samba
informing you that you need to restart your session and it gives you the
option to restart.  My issue is that even after clicking the "Restart"
session button, my session was never logged out or restarted.  That
warning message just went away, leaving me under the impression that I
was ready to go.  When I tried to access my share from another Ubuntu
machine, I couldn't connect properly (my password continued to come back
as "invalid").  Once I manually restarted my session on the original
computer (by logging out and back in), I was able to log into the share
properly.
