I have the same issue with a mini-usb dongle bought off ebay. The
proposed patch / workaround in hci_usb.c didn't work for me. I had to
compile the module btusb (disabled by default in ubuntu kernel) against
the running kernel and blacklist hci_usb.
My setup is also Ubuntu Hardy:
