Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.20-9-generic-di
Apt-update signaled a number of available package upgrades for Fiesty
this morning. Included were updates to the generic kernels to 2.6.20-9.
Installed fine, booted okay, noticed the boot was faster then normal.
When desktop loaded, KNetworkManager showed no wireless APs or routers
detected. My local router is WEP-enabled, with the WEP key password
protected via a kwallet password. I'm usualy queried for this password
before the wi-fi link is made. Clicking KNetworkManager too from taks
bar shows no detected networks. Rebooted to last kernel (2.6.20-8),
everything worked.
dmesg log for new kernel boot showed that kernel did detect Intel wi-fi
(IPW3945), but no connectivity made. Also, this card has Bluetooth, and
I get an indication that the Bluetooth was detected on desktop load.
Apparently, the system is seeing the wi-fi adapter, but there's a
disconnect with the AP detection.
I was a bit surprised at this, as Fiesty and KNetworkManager have worked
out-of-the-box pretty much since the first install (Herd 3).
Note: I should make it clear that I only booted the new kernel one time.
I'll try it again later to see if the issue repeats.
