Adrian: This is the same problematic phenomenon in 2 different Ubuntu releases, as well as 2 different VLC packages. Granted, I am not a professional (nor adept) developer. However, because my bug has different versions of both Ubuntu and VLC in comparison, it seems to be not a duplicate.
