Thanks for your report,
In most cases, nm-applet will ignore already configured devices. By
commenting out the eth1 option:
i.e #auto eth1
and restarting this might hopefully correct your problem. This can also
be done in the system > administrator > networking menu by going into
your devices properties and unchecking the box labeled 'enable this
device'.
Let me know if this in any way fixes your problem.
