I do not know if it's the same bug, I think so.

after upgrading from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) I can not
connect to internet with Sony MD400.

 I installed usb_modeswitch 1.0.5, and it works:

However I can not connect to the Internet with networkmanager or gnome-ppp. As 
i used.
