Hi Gregor, Thanks for the note that this was resolved in upstream 2.6.32-rc3. The upcoming Lucid kernel recently rebased with the 2.6.32 kernel and Lucid is also expected to released based on the 2.6.32 kernel. Based on this I'm going to mark this Fix Released against Lucid as I would not expect the issue to regress from being fixed in 2.6.32-rc3. Even though the Lucid Alpha 1 released today, it may be a little early for you to want to upgrade. So I'd suggest the following options as a workaround for now:
1) Try installing linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-generic . This contains an updated compat-wireless stack which *may* include the fix you need that went into 2.6.32-rc3. If I knew the exact patch that fixed this issue for you I could tell you for sure if this is in linux- backports-modules. 2a) If option 1 doesn't help, you could try running the Lucid kernel with in Karmic - https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/2.6.32-7.10/+build/1382279 2b) If you'd prefer to run the upstream kernel instead, we also provide upstream kernel builds for testing - http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D . You could choose to install the 2.6.32 kernel build. If option 1 above didn't work and you wanted to try to get the fix properly applied to Karmic we'd first need to know the exact patch that needs backporting. Then it would have to qualify for based on the SRU policy - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . I'll open a Karmic nomination for now and wait for your feedback.
