Public bug reported:

Some background:
I've had wireless issues with this card from Feisty, Gutsy, and Intrepid due
to the default NetworkManager not being able to use the card drivers. This was
resolved in Jaunty by replacing NetworkManager with wicd and everything worked
perfectly for months.

Following the upgrade to Karmic things have been usable but every 30
minutes to few hours the networking goes offline and the entire laptop
locks up. This is only resolved by unplugging the card, waiting for the
system to swap some unknown things in and out, then plugging back in
again. After the resurrection syslog reliably contains "BUG: soft
lockup" then usually the currently running app with most memory usage.

Attached is a trace from syslog at the second from one such event.

Linux troja. 2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 8 04:01:29 UTC 2009 i686
GNU/Linux
(happened in all kernels since 2.6.31-11)

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
