I experience the same issue with dell xps 1340. 
In "Hardware Drivers" it says: Broadcom STA wireless driver, this driver is 
activated but not currently in use.
lspci gives:
06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01).
Installing re-installing bcmwl-kernel-source and rebooting does not help. 
Installing bcmwl-modaliases does not help. 
Making sure in BIOS that the special wireless key is allocated only to wlan and 
using it does not help. 
Wireless work in Win7.
Any advice? Where can I look and what more info can I give?
