So you can. It seems counterintuitive to put this functionality in
preferences though, since it's just one option for _normal operation_ -
preferences ought to be things you set and then forget about!
Rejecting, since the real gripe was about not being able to do this. I
can't be bothered to open a bug about basic functionality being hidden
in preferences since I think this is part of a larger-scale bug with
Gnome that *lots* of people have complained about.
