I experience the same problem on my system since Hardy. Jaunty had it and a completely fresh install of Karmic shows the freeze as well. I have replaced the DVD-drive and all cabling as well as updated the mainboard's BIOS - no success. Furthermore I never had problems when booting from a CD or installing from it (but I also did not try to let it run for a longer time after a CD-Boot like it is suggested in bug 483070)
If i input a DVD or CD - the system completely freezes after about half a minute. It also happens when I disable hald-device-polling so also think it is not hal-related. I have not found any logs of the crash, it seems that the Kernel does not have time to write any before it locks up! -- System freezes when inserting a CD/DVD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
