Public bug reported:

I have a 4GB USB stick with ubuntu 9.10 preloaded on it,
I have only used it 7 times to boot off, so it has worked before as a live cd
(or live usb, or whatever its called)
but now when I try to boot off the usb stick, I get a warning saying, <error,
gnomurn offe can not be installed properly, & some programs won't run
correctly.> then after a blank screen I get a warning about tcp/ip failed to
start, and a busy mouse icon on the screen, until I have to force the laptop to
turn off
