Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: grub
Fresh install of Xubuntu 9.10 goes apparently fine. System boots to the GRUB
menu but cannot boot Linux, complaining it cannot find the device (giving
uuid). The UUID it did not find was correct (found it using the LiveCD). Tried
finding the device "by hand" by going into the command line in grub, but could
not find it.
I could start Windows XP from the GRUB menu without trouble.
The solution I got to was to install the previous version of Xubuntu (not
GRUB2) and this went well - system boots without problems. Then upgrade from
the running Xubuntu, keeping GRUB.
