I also have this problem.

The Lucid Alpha boots and I get the main menu. When I select either
'Install' or 'Run live (my words)', the installer probes my CDROM
repeatedly, but does not find my CD, even though it found it to start
the boot process.

I am running an AMD Duron 800 with 1.5 gigs of RAM and an ATI Radeon
RV200 graphics card (reported by Gentoo boot messages).

I have checked the CD and used different media and downloaded the ISO,
again. I am also burning slowly in-case this is an issue.

I consider this to be serious as I won't be able to install Ubuntu.

Please let me know if I can provide further information.

Many thanks,

Chris.
