Just updated to ubuntu 9.10. on sony vaio PCG 8y3m (rare). following
symptoms since then: system needs 3-5 attempts to boot. a bundle of
further more symptoms: in 1 of 2 cases: blocked panel so i have to shut
down system again. grainy surface while boot process and after. desktop
items not to be seen. Mouse coursor dead in 1 of 3 cases. bytheway:
elder eternal bugs as pe the dead shortcut buttons have disapeared.
