Tried, didn't work. Based on what I'm reading in the forums the ac97 seems to 
be picky and the via chipset in particular. Because there are minor differences 
depending on what version of Ubuntu you're running it's hard to follow along 
with some of the successful workarounds. Particularly for those unfamiliar with
