Ok, so this is what I did (as root). Uninstalled linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic with the Synaptic Package Manager (complete removal) Downloaded the snapshot an unpacked it. ./configure make make install-modules reboot check alsamixer for muted channels (none were muted) speaker-test and aplay test without and with headphone on all of the three jack-connectors. No, sound yet. I'm not an expert linux user, so I'm not sure if it's the right procedure?
