I can't seem to do that. I get this:

 libgtk2.0-0-dbg: Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.19.1-1) but 2.19.1-1ubuntu1 is
to be installed

I did have the ubuntu-desktop PPA set up as an alternate source. I was
getting warnings about the libgtk2.0-0-dbg not being authorized so I tried
removing the PPA and updating.

The other two libraries installed fine.

I tried running gdb but it gave me this:

(gdb) break gdk_x_error
Function "gdk_x_error" not defined.
Make breakpoint pending on future shared library load? (y or [n]) n

I'm using the latest (195.22) driver from Nvidia for my GeForce 8600 GT
card.

Thanks very much for the response. I've cut out all of the 3rd party
sources (except Google) to avoid leakage from them into the alpha. Sorry if
that's caused this problem or preventing me from helping to find it.
