running 9.10 linux kernel 2.6.31-16-generic
hard drive is 160 gig wd drive (laptop)
my system just "pauses" like it was considering the secrets of the
universe and after anywhere from 5 - 45 seconds just continue with what
it was doing. syslog and messages excerpts below. the drive is about two
months old.
