Well, it must have disappeared due to some reason or other. Disk corruption
perhaps? Either way, run this command to bring it back: sudo aptitude reinstall
samba
It should bring /usr/sbin/smbd back. If samba was already installed and
/usr/sbin/smbd is missing, nautilus-share assumes package installation has
failed, since it does require smbd to exist. I'm marking this bug as invalid.
