I did the verification for this and it works ok. The old version always defualted to image symbol, the new one does honor either text or image.
I would have appreciated a bit more details about where to find the applet and how I can easiyl verify the fix (for a non-xfce user :). But it works ok and I will mark it "verification-done" now.
