Hi and thanks for the reply.  It was happening with all emails, with 
POP.  After 1 week of this, today when I tried I was able to delete 
them.  Not sure why, haven't played with the setting between when I 
posted and today...so far so good.  If it is intermittent I will re-post 
to dig deeper.  If you have any possible reasons for it to happen in the 
first place I'll add to my "issues" folder!
