Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Hi,
this bug seems similar to many other, however to be sure I have decided to
open a new one with the relevant data attached.

Basically, when the update manager pops up, I click on the install
button.

What I get is a hung update manager, which greys out, with the mouse
icon indicating a wait for something.

The expected action is that the user pwd is requested to perform the
updates, but no window ever comes up. I've waited more than 10 minutes.

I attach a screenshot, perhaps it can be useful.

One important note: I started observing this behaviour since Jaunty, but
at that time I customized it a bit so I thought that I made some
mistake. This time this is a completely new and reinstalled Karmic, so
the problem is still there.

Thank you for your work!
