I got the same problem. I installed Ubuntu some hours ago, and have been
browsing through the 161 updates that was waiting. Then I hit "Install
Updates", and got presented with the mentioned "NOT AUTHENTICATED - YOU
MACHINE WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE HIJACKED BY PIRATES" (or some similar
wording) warning. This was consistent, both just trying to hit the
button again, and closing and starting the update manager again.

Doing apt-get update, then apt-get check revealed nothing out of the
ordinary. But afterwards, the warning was gone, and it didn't even show
that window telling me which updates and installations it was about to
download and install when I clicked the "Install Updates" button - and
just now it is finished, and everything seems fine.

Note that bug 461949 says the same.

When I tried to install the updates using Update Manager, I got a Summary
pop-up window with a message "You are about to install software that can't be
authenticated!Doing this could allow a malicious individual to damage or take
control of your system."
