Please run the command 'apt-cache policy samba'. If samba is really installed,
uninstall it (sudo dpkg --purge samba), and install it again (sudo aptitude
install samba). /etc/init.d/samba is shipped by the samba package and should be
around if samba is truly installed unless manually removed.
