I am having the same issue. I am attaching lshw/lsmod/dmesg reports. The lshw is from edgy.
This is a Dell Precision 670 with a defaulted bios (Rev A07) and hyperthreading turned on. No SATA raid enabled in bios. For some reason it is trying to probe each SATA port as PATA with a master and slave. Its detecting the seagate drives as master but failing imediately detecting a slave. I am guessing ata_generic is preempting ata_piix on this machine. I will attempt to boot with SATA raid enabled in bios and see how a the SATA bios reports drives. ** Attachment added: "dmesg/lsmod/lshw" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6580361/bug.txt -- Unusual Boot Messages https://launchpad.net/bugs/87477 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
