Well, try this: - Press Alt+F2 - You get the applicatation launch thingie. Enter this: gnome-sound-properties - Now you get a Sound Preferences window - Here they allow you to define which sound system to use for 'sound events', 'music and movies' and 'audio conferencing'. By default they are all set to 'autodetect'. - It doesn't really matter which one you use. Try changing any of the three to OSS and then clicking on "Test". Then try ALSA. etc. Try all the options in that list.
The test thing should just make a steady beep. If you can't hear anything or get an error: its not working. Try the next one. Let's hope at least one of them works. -- no sound, via 8233 (ac97) https://launchpad.net/bugs/88277 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
