I restarted the machine after few days of struggling with the incident. It updated the files after the restart. I am not sure, but I think it stops uploading if there is a disconnection from the Internet (obviously) and then it refuses to restart uploading from where it stopped earlier unless a restart to the machine is performed or the process is killed.
