I didnt add any extra repositories between it working and not working.
This was a clean install of lucid and mplayer did not work, then
overnight it did which my cron'd update job must have fixed. It was a
bug but now it isn't which I have marked as fixed released

oh well, issue over anyway but it was a bug is my point.
