I'm afraid that's probably bug #497299, unrelated to cryptsetup.

I would say cryptsetup is working for you, but of course this problem is
inherently racy, so we would appreciate feedback about whether this
continues to work for you across multiple reboots (discounting the upstart
regression mentioned above).
