I have had the same issue on my Toshiba Qosmio X 500-10V but this thread is an acceptable workaround.
What I did: 1) Installed the backport from comment 35 2) Installed hda-verb as described in comment 15 and used the script from comment 25 cause I received the error from comment 24 3) Added the line out of comment 54 to the alsa-base.conf Now the workaround fits my needs. Thank you @all.
